White House Releases Official Portrait of First Lady Melania Trump

See Melania Trump strike a pose as first lady.

First Lady and former model Melania Trump, who is no stranger to a photo op, recently struck a post for her first official portrait, which was released by the White House today. The first lady was photographed in the residence at the White House with arms folded and her left ring finger sporting a sizable 25-carat-diamond, which reportedly cost $3 million and was given to her by her husband for their 10th anniversary.

The flashy accessory drew backlash on social media for spotlighting the Trump family’s wealth at a time when the president proposes to slash the budget for federally supported programs that help low-income Americans like Meals on Wheels. Melania isn’t the only first lady to be blasted for her official portrait: Michelle Obama was knocked for wearing a sleeveless dress in her first official portrait, which her critics believed was too casual.
