Barry Manilow Opens Up About His Marriage & Sexuality

Singer-songwriter Barry Manilow, beloved by his Fanilows around the world, got candid for the first time about the love of his life in an interview with People magazine.

Barry Manilow has opened up publicly for the first time about his sexuality and marriage to his manager Garry Kief in an interview with People magazine. The very private pop star, known for 1970s hits like “Mandy” and “Copacabana,” got candid about his personal life and the not-so-secret secret that he’s gay and has been in a relationship with Kief for nearly 40 years.

Manilow met former TV executive Kief in 1978, and soon after Kief became the pop star’s manager and eventually president of Barry Manilow Productions. They also began a romantic relationship, which Manilow kept under wraps for most of his career, and were secretly married at their Palm Springs estate in April 2014. News of their marriage made headlines in 2015.
