Happy 80th birthday, Julie Andrews! To celebrate the beloved star of ‘Mary Poppins’ and ‘The Sound of Music,’ here are 5 facts we learned from her interview with Larry King.
Larry King sat down with the beloved actress and singer to discuss how writing has helped her cope with the loss of her singing voice. Here are a few things we learned from Larry’s interview with Andrews:
1. The first person Julie Andrews ever kissed was a Danish acrobat when she was 15 years old.
2. One thing she would like to change about herself would be to get a better education. She didn’t finish high school in England because she began touring and working in vaudeville.
3. Andrews cannot bake.
4. A few of her favorite songs include Kurt Weill’s “My Ship” and “It Never Entered My Mind” from the Rodgers and Hart musical Higher and Higher.
5. One of Andrews’ favorite books is one her father gave to her when she was a child, called The Little Gray Men. She has since published it in the United States.
