Mariah Carey’s holiday hit, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” is the gift that keeps on giving.
Mariah Carey has many reasons to celebrate. Not only is it her birthday today, but just last week, she also announced the expansion of her divalicious music empire: Universal will be producing an animated feature based on her 1994 holiday hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You” (because the song isn’t played enough during the Christmas season… ahem).
The new CGI feature is being adapted from Carey’s 2015 children’s book by the same name and will star Nickelodeon’s School of Rock actress Breanna Yde as a young Mariah who falls in love with a puppy and begs her parents to take it home for Christmas.
Narrated and produced by Carey, the feature won’t be hitting movie theaters but instead will be available on demand and on Blu-Ray/DVD.
For fans of Carey’s ubiquitous Christmas hit, they may easily recall that up until now, the song has been distinctly linked with 2003’s holiday blockbuster Love Actually, which has also gotten a recent surge of attention for its “mini-sequel” promo for Red Nose Day.
