Madea is going to be a daddy! And he’s already got some fatherly advice to share. . . .
It’s been a big week for Tyler Perry: the multi-million dollar man behind the Madea franchise is getting some love from critics for his performance as a high-powered defense lawyer in the new Ben Affleck thriller Gone Girl (in theaters this Friday), and in his personal life he’s feeling the baby love. Perry and his model girlfriend Gelila Bekele announced that they’re expecting their first child. (The star let it slip that it’s a baby boy in a television interview.)
The 45-year old actor, director, producer, screenwriter, playwright, and author told the press that he’s thrilled about becoming a father. Part of Perry’s incredible success story is that he escaped his own horribly abusive father and very difficult childhood. “The greatest gift I’m being given right now is the opportunity to give the little boy in me everything I never had, so that’s what I’m excited about,” he told Extra when asked what kind of dad he will be.
From troubled childhood to successful superstar and now soon-to-be-dad, Perry is living proof about how the power of who you become is in your hands. (Madea would say a “Hallelujer!” to that.)
