Happy 47th birthday, Will Ferrell! This quote’s for you. . .
Son of a bee sting, Will Ferrell is 47 today. Believe it or not, the master of goofball comedy started out as a semi-serious jock. His dad, the eldest of The Righteous Brothers and his teacher mom said he was so even-tempered as a kid they wondered,”How’d he get like that?”
In high school, the 6’3” Ferrell was a football star (who would make wacky announcements over the P.A. system) and went on to study sports journalism in college. But he eventually channeled his inner goofball after college graduation when he joined the L.A. improv troop The Groundlings. That led to SNL stardom (and his hilarious impersonation of George W. Bush) which led to the movie roles we know and love him for: Old School, Elf, Blades of Glory, Talladega Nights, name your favorite…
Add the fact that the man co-founded Funny or Die, and he’s worthy of the words spoken by his character Ron Burgundy in Anchorman,”I don’t know how to put this, but I’m kind of a big deal.”
